All it means for me is you can make docx and xlsx files with LibreOffice if you want.  And both softwares will read the other's format.

Although for spreadsheets you if you want deeply nested back-referenced sheets, it may be more difficult.  And some of the cell commands are different.

I've been using Spacestar as my email client since the early 90s.
It's all done in the cloud now.

Ubuntu claims that LibreOffice is fully compatible with Office.  Is that true?  Do they look the same?
