Another thought - if your working with class names

edit NPCONFIG
  add newldev
IOCONFIG
  ac class ldev=newldev
  exit
DOWN oldldev

When olddev printer is fixed.
UP oldldev
DOWN newldev

    wait for suspend message
STOPSPOOL ldev;OPENQ       << continue to allow new spoolfiles >>
STARTSPOOL ldev                   << should start with new IP >>
