Connie,

My experience has been the opposite: active is the default state and you have to change it to passive. I know this because a partner we had been sending files to for years began requiring passive mode and we could no longer transfer data until I added a command to change to passive mode. If you are seeing your FTP session default to passive mode, I suspect you have a configuration file that is setting it. I seem to recall there is a file that can contain commands to be executed when FTP is launched, but I can't find any documentation for it. The HELP for the PASSIVE command confirms that OFF is the default.

Regards,

John

Subject: [HP3000-L] FTP Passive fails - any way to specify Active?

Hello List,

I've always assumed that the command-line FTP on an HP3000 would only support Passive FTP connections. The 'passive on' or 'passive off' are, according to FTP's Help, supposed to set Passive or Active. However, to set the 'Active' state, you first have to have a connection, and my Open command is failing before I even get to log in.

I suspect the remote site has recently changed to require Active, since this job has worked for several years.

I tried connecting with FileZilla on my PC, and the 'Active' or 'Default' setting works but 'Passive' fails.

Any possible way to get the HP to use 'Active' from the command line/Job?

Thank you in advance,

Connie Sellitto
