Imagine if you will, if they had followed a different course?  Wasn't it one of the Hewlett's who wanted to stay a technology company and not become a computer commodity company?

A good, valid point, Alan.  When hp announced the EOL for the 3k, they had already slit their own corporate throat well before that...IMHO.

That HP announced the end of the HP3000!

In some ways it seems to have survived in some places in better shape than the HP that announced they were killing it!
