Here goes:

From whichever tape holds the directory mount that tape on, say, ldev 7, and:

:hello manager.sys
:file t;DEV=7
:restore *t;;directory (yes, 2 consecutive;)

upon completion, mount full backup tape (probably the same tape ) and

:restore *t;/;keep;olddate;create;partdb

Then reboot the machine so that networking can be restarted and you should be good to go.
