Just to add one more thought here; I would make sure to restore STORECAT to Ldev 1.

I think Denys' solution has the most promise of success.

When I look at several boxes, STORECAT is flagged open...I'm assuming because it's a system file that SHOULD have come in on the INSTALL from the SLT. The posix mv should allow the rename while MPE won't

I would first try to use the POSIX command mv to move the file STORECAT to STORECT2. Then I would restore the file STORECAT from the tape. Next I would shut down and then reboot the system and that should free up the file STORECT2 and I would then purge that file. At that time, STORECAT should be in use.

you could restore into another group.
:NEWGROUP MINE
:CHGROUP MINE
:FILE T;DEV=TAPE
:RESTORE *T;STORECAT.PUB.SYS;SHOW;LOCAL

Then you would have STORECAT.MINE.SYS
you can proceed to move/rename into PUB

I build the storecat.pub.sys and the restore is ok. I didn't get any messages. Now, I tried to restore the original storecat and I can't because is always open. How can I restore it or purge it?
