Mark,
Thanks for the plug. We are still here and still supporting ESPUL and PRINTPATH on the HP3000.

I would like to inform all that our name has changed from RAC Consulting to Software Devices LLC.

Old email addresses still work but you can contact us at [log in to unmask] or my personal address [log in to unmask] Web site is now www.swdevs.com.

The trick to free network printing on the HP3000 is to ensure your printer
  supports the HP JetDirect protocol.

The way to test this is to use telnet to port 9100. If 9100 is listening,
you most likely are good to go.

  From the HP3000, run

  :TELNET.ARPA.SYS "10.1.1.20 9100"

If the telnet works, you should be able to print from the HP3000 without any
additional software. Otherwise check ping. Then check the printer to see
if the IP address is correct. Also check if the printer supports multiple
  protocols.

LPD printing is the UNIX flavor. We always used <plug> RAC <unplug> for
  non-JetDirect flavors of printing.
