Ron,

Back in the day (1980's and 1990's) allot's guys I worked with used
QEdit, but I used QUAD to edit COBOL,FORTRAN,C/iX, JCL/MPE-CI. I felt
QUAD was faster and so for me it was. Editors are almost a religious
thing for programmers. I know a guy that used 'vi', even on the HP3000,
and no other editor will do for him. I was never much for purchasing
tools for development, however, since the late 90's onward, I used
Programmer Studio from Whisper Technologies as a "character based"
editor. In the latter years of working on MPE, the languages also
included Java, Perl, SQL. I also used GUI3000 to access and Admin MPE
(Users,Groups,Account, and security), as well as search and view data
stored in TurboImage databases.

To Date I still use Programmer Studio to develop software on the HP3000,
HP9000, other flavours of Unix including Linux. Now using Languages like
JavaScript with HTML and CSS, and Programmer Studio knows these
languages as well as COBOL, SuprTool and Quiz.

But today I don't use the HP3000 much any more, nor do I use Windows
much any more. For years Programmer Studio kept me tethered to Windows
as my favoured editor. Recently I've started using JEDIT on Linux. JEDIT
doesn't know how to access the HP3000, so for that I still use Windows
with Programmer Studio.
