looked up some part numbers, maybe it will clarify what I'm asking
the card in the back of server is HP A1703-60022
the mdp or adp or whatever its called is HP 5062-3054
I have the cable that goes from the 1703-60022 to the 5062-3054
what I don't have, and need pinout for, is the cable that goes from port0 of
5062-3054 to datacomm port on hp928 terminal
thanks :)

Subject: [HP3000-L] mux-to-console cable pinout
This isn't an hp3000 question but its semi-related
I finally acquired the 8-port mdp (or is it adp? so confusing) panel for the
hp9000 g50 I've had for years. So I thought I'd try to hook up a 928 console to
see if this thing would do anything at all, or is it destined for scrap metal
heap
I've got a card in the back of the 9000, with 78(?) pin port labeled "To
DDP/ADP" or something like that, plus I have the cable, which splits into a 9pin
female (goes into the mdp/adp panel) and the other end looks vaguely like
centronics printer but I assume its for a DDP.
So I connect the 9pin female part of the cable to the MDP "full modem" panel,
and voila, the power light burns green on the MDP panel.
the question is... what is the pinout for the cable that would connect between
the port-0 25pin connector on the mdp and the 25pin data on the terminal? I
don't have an "official" cable so I'll have to make one myself.
thanks
Ed
