John,
This is from memory, so I may be off by a bit.
Hit Cntrl-B at the console to get the CM prompt. Type ES for Enable Status. This should put a flashing bar at the bottom of the console. The bar should contain the equivalent of the LED lights.
Type CO to return to the console.
LOGTOOL.PUB.SYS is a standard utility on MPE.

Hi Craig,
Yes, the lack of detail is my problem.
I have no flashing lights, error messages,
etc....
The only clue I may have is probably in the
logfile(s).
Donna just mentioned "LogTool".
Not sure if that's a standard HP utility or
not.
So maybe that might help me decipher the cryptic data to
find a clue to the problem.
Is there another solution?

HP3000 Freezing Up
John,
Not a lot of detail here.
:-)
What is happening on the LED? (Do 968's have
LED's?) usually they flash f1ff or faff?
This will tell
us if the system is in a loop.
Another idea is to run Glance or SOS
on a separate terminal in the b-queue. It may help
identify any offending processes.
Finally, you may want to look at
your log files for any I/O errors.

All,
My HP3000 968 running MPEXL v5.5 has
started to "freeze up".
Nothing appears on the console.
I can sometimes login,
but it will not respond after that.
My only option is to do a Ctrl-B and restart
it.
Yesterday, I had to power cycle it 5 times before it became
semi-stable.
I ran JCONFJOB.NET.SYS to freshen the config file.
I
also recovered all of the KSAM files.
I removed all of the scheduled
jobs except for the backup.
It eventually froze up again at
5pm.
I've heard a rumor that HP will still semi-support the
HP3000.
Is that true? I am hoping that I can get them to
read the log files to tell me what
is causing the system
halt(s).
If HP is totally out of the picture now, how can I solve
this mystery?
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Thanks for
any info,
John
