Assuming that you don't want to keep it on tape, as we all know that
when the time comes that you want to you won't be able to read the
tapes.

One very simple but elegant solution is to get a copy of Eloquence which
is very inexpensive for your choice of Windows, Linux, HP-UX and just
load the databases in. Then either with the Query3K tool or with ODBC
you can just access the data as and when required. You could copy the
volume set(s) to NAS. I'll make a bet that the smallest NAS device you
can buy <$400 will comfortably store more data than you managed to
create on the HP3000 in its lifetime.

I think Allegro have a product that will directly load Eloquence from
databases in store format on tape, if you want to skip the step of
restoring from the store tapes and then unloading for import into
eloquence. Not sure but I also thing the Allegro product will do flat
file conversion.
