Even more than making hardware till the end, they'll advertise after the
end. I saw a TV ad for the HP tablet yesterday. At $399. Apparently the
announcement of their discontinuation was so abrupt that they couldn't
pull advertising

HP will be making hardware right up to the end. The PC customers may get
as little notice as 3000 owners did.
From today's Wall Street Journal:
"HP unveiled a new desktop computer Monday, just days after the technology
company disclosed plans to sell or spin off its personal-computer
business.
HP said the latest all-in-one Elite business model can deliver up to 15%
faster hard-drive access, 40% better performance and less downtime as a
result of remote information-technology management capacity. The computer,
which is energy-efficient, also is equipped for remote face-to-face
communications and online conference center capabilities."
