Greetings,

I am trying to read a file and extract data from that file to put into an Image dataset. I take the data from the file and
define fields to match what the database requires. Everything is working except a dollar amount and a date.

The date in the file starts at byte 43 and looks like this...20101022
The date in the dataset is define as J2
I define the date in the input file as DATE,43,4,DOUBLE which creates an item defined as I2, (that's eye-2), in my self-describing
file. According to my manual, I2 and J2 data items are identical.
The problem is that when I extract 20101022 and put it into my self-describing file, it turns into 842019120

A similar thing is happening with my dollar field.
The dollar amount in the file starts at byte 194 and looks like this...123456789012 ( I put a big number in there to test)
I dollar amount in the dataset is defined as P12.
I define the dollar amount in the input file as DOLLAR,147,6,PACKED
When I extract 123456789012 and put it into my self-describing file, it turns into 31323334353

What am I doing wrong?

We are using Suprtool, version 5.0.

Thanks,

Ernie
