Bingo! We discovered that right after I sent the last email. We copied that
file and LOGTOOL ran fine.

So now I can't find any Event Type 102's (Job Initiation) that aren't tied
to LDEV 20. If I'm understanding what the manuals say, Event Type 102 is
"Job Initiation" which covers both jobs and sessions. But out of 529,187
records in our system Log files, none of them are user logins other than on
the console.

Now I realize that ours users all come in over NS/VT, but that just gets you
the : prompt .... executing the HELLO command and logging in ought to
trigger a "Job Initiation" event regardless of whether it's a network
session or serial session.

I'm baffled.
