James,

OpenPDF has always been a separate product from Fantasia/3000. OpenPDF
is designed to take PCL, including fonts, logos and graphics from any
source on the HP3000 and convert it to PDF format. It doesn't require
Fantasia and isn't a sub-component of Fantasia.

However, as there are many MPE sites using Open Seas' Fantasia/3000
product to produce PCL output for LaserJet printers it made perfect
sense to build a bridge between the two so that Fantasia can invoke
OpenPDF at those sites which have licenses for both products, as
explained in the Fantasia supplemental manual you refer to.

Fantasia H.01.01 is an older version of the software but still supports
the PARM=97 command so that it could invoke OpenPDF providing you have a
copy of the software in the OPENPDF group of Fantasia's LARC account.

You are welcome to a trail version of OpenPDF, just let me know.

Jason Kent

Subject: Fantasia and PDF

A long time ago I dimly recall reading that Fantasia had some sort
of interface to a PDF generator. For some reason I formed the
belief that this was intrinsic to Fantasia but it appears that from
the 2003 supplemental reference that the program OPENPDF from
OpenSeas is required.

We use version H.01.01 and this seems not to support the built-in
call to OPENPDF using parm=97 as specified in the documentation.
So, what other products are available to produce pdf documents from
laser printer spool files on an HP3000?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the U.S. of A.
