We had a similar problem last year, bogus gateways in our routing table.
I don't know if this is the perfect solution, but we have a job that
cleans bogus gateways every 5 minutes.  It seems to occur only via a
certain router in France.  Worst case scenario is that a user who is
pointed to the bogus gateway can't connect to our HP3000 for 5 minutes
until the job cleans it up.
