Jim,
Did anyone ever send you the link to the documentation for configuring telnet?
It is entitled, "Configuring and Managing MPE/iX Internet Services".
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01900546/c01900546.pdf
Here are some short notes I made up on the subject. I believe most of this (the links) are already set up for you on newer versions of MPE/iX...
Setting up telnet on MPE/iX
file SERVICES.NET.SYS
telnet 23/tcp
file INETDCNF.NET.SYS (Copy this from the sample file)
telnet stream tcp nowait MANAGER.SYS internal
Then enter the following:
NEWLINK /etc/services, SERVICES.NET.SYS
NEWLINK /etc/inetd, INETD.NET.SYS
newlink /etc/inetd.conf, INETDCNF.NET.SYS
INETD -c
stream jinetd
NS has to be up

Subject: [HP3000-L] Connecting to 192.168.0.199.....WRQ Reflections "connection refused by host"
Although its been roughly 3 weeks since I spoke of this issue, it unfortunately still remains an issue. I can only work on this problem about once a week for a few hours. Any suggestions you can offer is appreciated.
The problem is the client can’t telnet connect via WRQ Reflections to a newly received HP3000 box.
