Sounds like you're going to have to park a trashcan next to the open DLT
device and twirl your finger thousands of times around thus spewing tape
into the can.
(This was the similar method we once used for reel-to-reel tape. When a
newbie, I wondered what the circular indentation was for in the plastic
until I had to use it. At least reel-to-reel and a take up reel.)
