It's true that normally you would want to shut down jobs like BACKG when
doing a backup.  My thought is that online backups negate that need.

The BACKG job should not be running during the backup.
 
I can't represent whether this is causing you problem or not.
 
However, VESOFT cautions that you should stop BACKG prior to the backup
because several of the tasks may be accessing control files.
 
Here is a quote from the documentation:
 
(Stopping the BACKG job for a backup is important because several of the
tasks may have control files or the SECURG file open while they run.)
