Giles,

The other thing you will get with 7.5 (amongst many changes ?) is access to all of ldev 1 if its bigger than - what 4GB? I recall waiting with bated breath for what would happen on the last reboot when I installed 7.5 over 7.0, and IIRC, it just did its thing and came up with lots more space . We have an 18GB ldev 1 and a 36GB ldev 2.

I dont think I could live without autoanswer now, having been used to it for ages now. All our backups are scheduled jobs overnight.

Our Dat40x6 autoloader died last year - woulnt bring tapes to ready state. The service people were a bit lost for a while, and took the unit back to base to play with. Tried swapping another drive mech into our chassis, but in the end replaced the whole unit.

John,

I noticed that your autoloader is configured with id=ddsauto.

That id is not available with the MPE version I'm running - which is 7.0.

So I'm going to update to 7.5, modify my config. and see what happens.

Will let you know.

Cheers,
