nope, not until the 1401 came along.  before that it was cards and mechanical relays by the thousand.  we're talking 026 punches, 088 sorter, 083 collator, 407 "accounting machine" I think it was called, which contained a card reader, 30000 relays, 132-wheel print mech for continuous forms.  I was 12.
