Kent,

3000 NIC is fixed speed.
Its first connection is a HP 4200 procurve, which is fixed on that port, but rest are speed sensing.

First check to see that your system is not doing any speed sensing.
This would occur if you had some devices that at set at 100 and some at
10 megabits. Make sure they are all performing at the same speed.

The routers
The HP
The switches
The Network cards

Everything should be locked down at the same speed.

Any time some speed sensing is done everything runs slow. There are
settings on the HP to do speed sensing.

Subject: [HP3000-L] network pauses

We are having network pauses a bit more often lately, some long enough
to drop multiple sessions. N series, 3gb RAM, 1 x 220 cpu. 100BT NIC.

I have stopped/started network, and reset the counters.
In the last 10 hours, overnight (low to no activity), I now see 67,500
broadcasts received, with 1300 in a 5.5min segment.
This doesn't sound right ? How do I identify where these broadcasts are
coming from please?

In the 5.5min segment, also saw 39 rcv dropped addr, and maybe
coincidentally, 39 rcv CRC error in the last 10 hours.
No transmit errors logged.

Thanks,

Regards,

John Pitman
