The last one I setup was in 2003, seemed like ten years ago. I actually
had connected two 12h arrays to this particular box in 03, and I did put
ldev 1 on one of the arrays. Never had a problem. I did replace a drive
or two over the years but the machine always stayed up during the
rebuild of the new drive. Thanks for the heads-up, it is something to
consider. Maybe the problem you describe was due to the power fail and
the boot process. Maybe I'll keep the system volume on the original
internal drives. My plan was to (worked in the past) raid all critical
volumes, including the SYSTEM volume. Then utilize the original internal
(non-raid) drives for temporary/sort scratch area. This gives me another
I/O channel for real time processing, and a little boost in performance.
I want to thank everyone for their input, and the PDF's sent off list
;-) I think I got what I needed, very much appreciated!
