The inflation was due to the government printing the money with out any backing.  Basically the money was worth the paper and the ink that produced it.

The third and fourth charts are where it gets really interesting.

So invest in bullets or wheelbarrows?  I would suggest that he who has the bullets gets the wheelbarrows.
