Re blu-ray players, watch out for Sony packages or promos that include a PS3 , which can play blu-ray out HDMI, and do good upscaling.

Strongly recommend Sanyo this year, good pricing.

The "sweet spot" is 42" to 52" LCD models, sweet spot meaning the best deal for the money.

Be sure to get 1080p on the TV, don't settle for less. The hundred dollars you save buying 1080i or any lower resolution will be paid for in buyers remorse.

On any model, be sure to get at least two or three HDMI input jacks, as well as two or three RCA style inputs.

Do NOT spend the money to buy expensive cables - the $20 HDMI cables will work just great. :)

DO buy a Blue Ray player that with upscale normal DVD's to 1080p as well - or at least a DVD player that will upscale to
1080i. A low end BlueRay player provides just about as good a
picture as a high end one, what you are paying for is speed. A low end Sony for instance, may take up to a 90 seconds to load a DVD and start playing it. Remember, it is just a PC! :)

Hope that helps. Good luck. Wal-Mart actually has some good buys
running right now, if you are looking to save money.
