Upon request I am providing the initial results of my research based upon
the suggestions that I received.

Apple MacBook Pro MB134LL/A (2 recommendations)
Dell Airbook
Dell Corporation Refurb (3 recommendations)
Dell Vistro
Dell D630
Toshiba A300

All of these come with MS-Win XP Pro either installed or shipped with the
unit as an optional and supported "downgrade".

The MacBooks are priced between 150% and 200% above the other suppliers
for the same Intel processor and peripheral configurations. They are also
about 500 grams lighter.

The Dell special offers site (I could not find a "refurb" site as such)
offers a multitude of laptop choices, some with XP pro as an option.
