Hi Connie :)
Neil pointed out a good view that consistancy and pre-knowledge is
best :)

NASCAR handles this by ranking the drivers based on points...if
multiple drivers have the same number of points then the drivers who are
"tied" are ranked based on the Number of Races won during the current
season. Example a couple/3 years ago Greg Biffle (from the NW!) and
Carl Edwards were tied in points but Biffle had more Race Wins that
season... Biffle was ranked Second and Edwards ranked 3rd for the
season...

It is confusion that causes problems.... But maybe you could do a tie
breaker based on the highest placing in a contest for the year... So if
3 cats are tied in points but 1 cat placed 1st in a show, another of the
3 highest placing was 2nd and the third cat had 3 1st Places you rank on
that?

Is it wrong that I pictured cats with golf clubs?

I don't think there is a right and wrong answer to this, it is whatever
the CFA decides is correct, my suggestion is to make it consistent.

Some sports have tie breaking rules when competitors have the same
number of points, such as goals for and against, which is obviously not
possible here.

In terms of fairness I would imagine that if you did strict 1 thru 25
you would need some sort of tie-breaking scheme such as number of firsts
or highest placement etc. Typically for cycling series that I compete in
(not my cat), the tie-breaking rules are published in advance, but again
what people often look for is consistency.
