they're both. computer room UPS batteries are often "motorcycle-size", and are most always deep-cycle.
vastly most deep-cycle, marine, and starting batteries (with "marine" taking a middle ground) use the same (cheap) lead-acid chemistry; the differences among them lie entirely in the physical configuration of the lead. (spongy = lots of surface area, fast discharge, good for starting; solid = lots of lead = lots of storage but not quite so quickly available ...google)
