One more file to look at - particularly if using sendmail.
The file is /tmp/syslog.log
I have a job that runs regularly that copies and re-creates an empty
syslog.log file.
!job slogrsj,mgr.syslog;hipri
!sh.hpbin.sys
cd /tmp
touch syslog.log.bu
rm syslog.log.bu
cp syslog.log syslog.log.bu
rm syslog.log
touch syslog.log
exit
!eoj
If you ever needed to investigate an old syslog file, it could
(presumably) be easily restored from backup.
