there are *always* old files sitting about!

if you have mpex, use 'listf, dates' (probably with accdate < today-N (where
N is some number of days, like 365)).
I'll add that you'll want to use hfs/posix notation vs traditional mpe in
order to find those 'hidden' files that you had no idea were actually there.

if you are sans mpex, get a copy of 'listfx'
(http://jazz.external.hp.com/src/scripts/listfx.txt) and take the time to
view the help text (:listfx *~). you'll be able to collect (nearly?) the
same information. (you'll still want to use accdate to modify your search)
be sure to get copies of 'dtoffset' and 'datesort' from jazz as well.
they're supporting scripts for listfx.

once your old files have been found, if you're truly paranoid, write them to
tape prior to purging them. (I always figured, if the file hasn't been
touched in 3-4-5-6 YEARS I bet no one is really going to miss it!)
