Thanks for your suggestions Lars.
I had already completed them all - including ensuring that the "Y"
indeed was indicated on the UPS screen of the DTS UPS port path in NMMGR.
Two reboots, a DTC power reset (though I don't think that was
necessary) and many UPSUTIL restarts later, UPSUTIL status is still
showing the UPS port being "Down/Broken".
I now realize that the port being owned by the system is as it should be.
I'm wondering if it could be the serial cable. It is actually the
correct one (part no. -wise). Are the ends symmetrical or does it
matter which end attached to which side?
