Did you ensure the firmware level of your FWSCSI card was at least 
3636 and 3728 would be even better.

There is a program available to check the firmware level - call 
FWSCSI - but of course you need to have the system up and running MPE/iX first.

Should be available from jazz.external.hp.com.
