The problem with virtual machine software is:

1) You have to pay for the VM software,
2) You still need a copy of Windoze,
3) You need a box that can handle it.

The advantage of Linux with Wine is:

1) The software is free,
2) Windoze is not required,
3) You can get away with a smaller/cheaper box (try running MS Office
for Vista on a Pentium III and see what happens. Linux with Wine can
<G>)

I know of a company that managed to get Minisoft running with Wine, they
have used it sucesfully for several years. I heard it was tough to
setup, but once running it works great.

End Snip

A few years ago I made an effort to get use Linux for my desktop. At
that time I got a Java based emulator that had VT-MGR support. I think
it was from Minisoft. It was a little clunky but, it worked!

If you just need one or two apps on Windows then you should consider
virtual machine software. (Qemu, virtual box, etc.) Virtual box installs
windows faster than on a regular PC and runs at near native speed.
