With the state of acceptance of diesel passenger vehicles in the US that may be a reason we are not seeing a Ford here....yet.

I think it is 7 states that have higher diesel restrictions - pollution levels - Mercedes-Benz for one is coming out with some fantastic diesels - the Dodge Sprinter is one - big van that gets mileage in the mid-high 20s on the road - good power - several companies are converting them to motor homes. I don't think this van is held to the same pollution standards as a car.

They are bringing their v6 diesels to the ML class and the E Class - but still in CA due to our rules they are not selling them here yet. You have to buy one "used" from another state with 7500 miles.

Anyway the costs of certificating a vehicle for our crash tests and different pollution standards may be the reason...

On driving RHD years ago I had a funny experience in Australia.

I wanted to try RHD but trying it in Sidney or Melbourne would have been nuts - so I rented a car in Alice Springs, in the middle of nowhere.

All would be fine until I would get in the car from the curb (kerb) and instinctively pull to the right side of the road. RHD drives on the left - easiest thing for me to remember was "steering wheel side is closest to the lane"

Anyway I started heading straight towards this wedding party and I could hear them thinking "another #$%^& Yank"

Bill
