Can be further qualified by this rule of thumb:

If you wiped the dust from the top of your hp box and COGNOS found out
about it, then they'd consider that an upgrade, and you'd have to pay
for it.

I guess there is one positive aspect to the murder of the HP3000...
escaping the trap by not using Cognos products on any future platform.
