WestJet Airlines is searching for a candidate as described below. The job is 
posted on our Website at www.westjet.com, and interested candidates need 
to apply through that channel.

The ideal candidate would be capable of providing a mix of hardware / 
operating system and application support.  

Our high level requirements are;
*	On site in Calgary
*	Available for 1 1/2 to 2 year contract (we might consider full
time employement if mutually agreeable)
*	Expert knowledge of MPE, HP3000
*	Ability to learn application support of Open Skies reservation
system. 
*	(knowledge of Navitaire's Open Skies reservation system a
tremendous plus but not a requirement)

Detailed requirements:

HP3000 / MPE / Open Skies Reservation System Support
This position provides technical support for the OpenSkies (by Navitaire) suite 
of products.  OpenSkies applications would include FlightSpeed (call centre 
booking GUI), Checkin (departure management system), Skylights 
(westjet.com), Fare and Schedule Maintenance (interfaces with other Open 
Skies modules and 3rd party apps), Accounting applications etc.  This includes 
installs, bug fixes, as well as technical support to other departments and the 
rest of IT.  Provides expert knowledge of the application specific hardware and 
systems.  Works with other departments in developing solutions to everyday 
problems, as well as corporate and departmental initiatives. 

Role will encompass a combination of hardware and software support.

Software Support - ensure OpenSkies suite of software is available
•	Ensure the software is available (free from unplanned outages 
through planned outages and other strategies) for use as per the appropriate 
SLA (24/7/365)
•	On call required based on rotation with 2 other support analysts.

Hardware support - ensure HP3000 is available  
•	This position involves ensuring that the health and availability of the 
HP3000 meets the application SLA as it directly influences the OpenSkies suite 
of products' availability.  
•	Experience with MPE (currently v 7.5) is required.
•	Experience troubleshooting and configuring system hardware is 
required.
•	All aspects of system design and maintenance are considered and 
put into practice within this position.

Troubleshooting and maintenance
•	Take appropriate action based on SLA and severity of incident.  Be 
reactive and proactive as issues arise or are foreseen.  This troubleshooting 
may involve any system that touches the OpenSkies environment, such as 
accounting, reservations, checkin, operations, marketing etc.  
•	Full after houirs (24 by 7) support is required, so that immediate 
response is always available when problems arise.

Communication and documentation
•	Management must be kept apprised of risk factors as they arise, as 
well as receive information which may influence departmental or corporate 
decisions (planned outages, resources etc.).  
•	Following change control process and documentation is manditory for 
any changes we expect to put into production.  
•	Any person who logs issues must receive appropriate communication 
as to the status of their problems.
•	Documentation of resolutions using WestJet’s Remedy is required.
•	Participation in overall system documentation will be required

Tools and experience

•	Knowledge and experience with the following a definite asset; 
Suprtool, MPE scripting, Adager, Network Printing, Netbase shadowing, Image 
DB and Security 3000
