I would like to let the campus know that the motorcycle accident
yesterday involved Anne Wehunt's (Assistant Sports Information Director)
brother, Blaine. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Subject: Anne Wehunt

For those who haven't heard, Anne Wehunt's oldest brother, Blaine, was
in a serious motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon here in town. He is
in critical condition at Erlanger.

Anne has eight or 10 brothers and sisters. I can't remember how many
right now. Blaine has worked on our basketball statistics crew for the
past three years.

Below is an update from her from early this morning:

Blaine is critical with fractured ribs, scapula and C-1 vertebrae. His
heart stopped earlier and they had to do CPR and give him medication to
get it restarted. It's beating on it's own, but he is on a respirator.
He cannot breath without it. He has been unconscious from the start and
he is sedated as well. The neurosurgeon is checking him and another CT
has been ordered. The first one showed nothing abnormal, no bleeding,
but the lack of oxygen may have caused brain damage. We had the priest
come in to anoint him and we have all gotten to visit with him briefly.
He is having siezures and they gave him some adavan (sp) to stop them or
at least slow them down.

For those who don't know...Blaine was traveling westbound on Brainerd
Road, coming back to the house. According to a witness, who is a friend
of his, he waved to her and as he did, a car traveling eastbound turned
onto Germantown Road in front of him. He lost control of the bike and
went head first into the side of the car's passenger side.

We have been advised to hope for the best, but expect the worst. I will
keep you posted as we get more news. Thanks for your prayers. Blaine
needs all he can get. Please forward this along to anyone you wish.
