I purchased a 3-pack of the fluorescent ceiling fan bulbs about 4 months
ago from Wal-Mart (I think). 2 of the 3 have failed and I'm still using
the 3rd in my ceiling fan, which is not enclosed. They are made by
Lights of America. Lights of America calls this a specialty bulb, model
2107, which can be used with ceiling fans. BTW, the
http://www.lightsofamerica.com web site shows they have developed a
fluorescent bulb that can be used with a dimmer switch.
My remaining bulb gives off the same light as an equivalent 40W
incandescent bulb. I'm not happy with the time I got to use the bulbs
before they stopped working...2 out of 3 of them, that is. I didn't
keep my receipt so I haven't tried to get replacements for the 2 bulbs
that stopped working so soon after installation.
Regards,
Steve Gray

Nope, no dimmer switches... Just the standard on/off, correctly grounded
circuit. Although I guess one could argue that "off" is a form of dim.

Are any of those bulbs that caught fire on a dimmer switch? Apparently,
you can't use
CF bulbs with dimmer switches unless the CF bulb specifically says that
it will work
with a dimmer switch...otherwise, it causes fires...even if you leave
the dimmer on the
brightest setting all the time, the fire hazard remains...Tom
