I have just found out that the 2600n is what used to be called a GDI
printer. It only has 2 internal fonts, does not support PCL, and is
fully controlled by a driver program loaded on the host.

It is more likely that HELL will freeze over before you could get it to
work with the 3000 :(.

I would take the error messages pretty much at their word. Does the
printer have a JetDirect card attached to it, either as an internal EIO
card or an external print server? If not, the HP3000 is not likely to be
able to communicate with the printer.
