Maclellan Island Open House
Saturday, November 18, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join Outdoor Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Audubon
<http://www.audubonchattanooga.org/index.shtml> Society for an afternoon of
exploration and discovery.

Maclellan <http://www.audubonchattanooga.org/island.html> Island has 1.5
miles of hiking trails, a camp site, picnic area, canoe and kayak launch,
and bunkhouse that can all be accessed by the public. It is the first stop
on the Tennessee River Blueway canoe and kayak trail and it has a long and
varied human history, as well as unique natural features.

Pack a lunch and take the Chattanooga Water Taxi at Ross' Landing or
Coolidge Park and come out to the island. Round trip fare is $3. If you feel
comfortable paddling in the river current, come over in a canoe or kayak. A
launch and rack are located on the northeastern side of the island. No
motorized boats, please.

Staff and volunteers from Chattanooga Audubon will be on the island to
answer questions about the history of the island. We will have the Blueway
campsite set up and hot chocolate and cider simmering on the camp stove to
warm your innards.

Wear clothes suitable for the weather and sturdy walking shoes. For more
information, call Outdoor Chattanooga at 423-643-6888.
