You may have received a recent notification of our upcoming Psych
O'Cinema program from Vice-Chancellor Prevost, and if you have been
through the lobby of the University Center, you may have noticed a
rather puzzling poster depicting a lonely Alice in Wonderland figure
next to a hole with the caption "Are you ready to go down the rabbit
hole?"

"What the #@$* Do We Know?!" (pronounced "What the bleep...). is the
Psych O'Cinema ("Psychology of the Cinema") program scheduled for
Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 5pm in the Raccoon Mtn. Room. Psych "O'Cinema is a
regular learning series provided by the Counseling and Career Planning
Center using contemporary movies to address various issues of human
development and mental health. The movie is shown in its entirety,
followed by an in-depth discussion of the issues it raises and how they
relate to college-age adults.

We are particularly excited about this independent film, which was
distributed by the producers, after being rejected by the mainstream
distributor, to become the fifth largest gross distribution of any
documentary film. It is both very entertaining and very
thought-provoking. Below is a description of "What the #@$*"Do We
Know?!:

It is part documentary, part story, and part elaborate and inspiring
visual effects and animations.... revealing the uncertain world of the
quantum field hidden behind what we consider to be our normal, waking
reality and questioning the fundamental premises of our life - how
relationships with others should be, and how emotions affect work.

Done with humor, precision, and irreverence, the film employs animation
to realize the radical knowledge that modern science has unearthed in
recent years. Powerful cinematic sequences explore the inner-workings of
the human brain and reinforce the film's message in an exciting,
powerful way.

Through the course of the film, the distinction between science and
religion becomes increasingly blurred, since we realize that, in
essence, both science and religion describe the same phenomena.

If you would be willing to display the color poster advertising this
event (81/2" x 11" Adobe file) in your main office, please reply
directly to me and I will send you two different posters. You can choose
which one to display, or better yet, put them both up!

Also, please let students know about this event and encourage them to
check it out.

Thank you very much,

ED
