No Samba for us either.
We are using MB Foster listener job and when I brought it down I expected my
"used" frames to go down, but that was not the case. Every day we continue
to see a gradual and steady climb to the top. Last night we sent a bunch of
IP traffic to it, but all of it was processed and the used frames were
fluctuating like it should. I didn't even see any kind of spike while the
person testing it was sending a lot of requests, which were returned
immediately.

Any chance that one of you is running the NMBD daemon
of Samba/iX on the 6.0 systems that occasionally get into trouble with input
buffers filling up?
I vaguely recall that there happened to be some issue
of Windows sending many UDP packets and NMBD not getting
enough CPU to pick them up for processing. Might be an
idea to only run SMBD for a test in such a case. NMBD is
only needed for network neighborhood things, with only
SMBD you can still map network drives by specifying their
names ("\\server\share") explicitly.
