You know, when someone goes into really DEEP cover, neighbors and 
otherwise "close" associates should not suspect a thing.

Therefore according to the news story below, (presuming they are not 
also privy to the details of the investigation,) has their story 
correct.  Insofar as can be ascertained from interviews in the 'hood.

The bias mainly shows in that one can safely assume reporters learned 
minute personal 'detail' about the suspects when interviewing local 
residents.  Knowing full well that anything a neighbor or associate says 
probably has something to gain, either 5 minutes of fame or that their 
statements would be couched to protect 'friends'.  Whereas information 
from the RCMP was no doubt, equally issued to all the media in the same 
press release without preference to any one reporter.
