Reminds me when my wife and I were returning from Ireland to Houston the
day Rita was suppose to come on short. We were traveling with a group
of about 20 reports (newspaper and tv) who were from the UK. As we
began our approach into Houston I was looking out my window and made the
comment about all the traffic heading out of town on what appeared to be
both sides of the freeway. As soon as I made this comment the news guys
left the middle section they were sitting in and tried to find a window
seat to look out of; I think I felt the plane dip a bit to the left
when all that weight shifted ;)

These guys were a disgrace to any profession once they left the plane I
couldn't believe all the trash they left behind. They reminded me of a
bunch of elementary school age kids having a party. I felt sorry for
the cleaning crews.

Denys,

My wife is always complaining that the media is now more interested in
making news and getting ratings than reporting what is really happening.

One of the problems here in the UK, when it comes to the reporting of
things in the USA (and other countries), is that our news services tend
to get their information from a string of ?freelancers? who each have to
'ramp up' their stories to make them more sellable. Bit like the party
game where you pass a message from one attendee to another and see how
different it when you get it back.

After the reporting on how people behaved during 9/11 something did not
feel right in what we were hearing over here about Katrina. Thank you
for shedding some light on what was REALLY happening there.

regards,
