Hi Jeff,

In light of the extension of HP support for MPE, here are a few requests
for the vSIB '06.

1. From the Beta Test page: "If you feel your system(s) could benefit
from the installation of a "BT" patch and you have a valid HP support
contract please contact the Response Center to order the patch(es) you
would like."

vCSY could extend the beta testing offer to sites that do not have a
valid HP support contract. To avoid undue stress on the Response
Center, requests could be limited to email. To avoid HP support
liability, the patches could be used at your own risk and a courtesy
procedure could accompany each patch (ie validated SLT and backup).
Additionally, HP could offer a reduced time and materials rate for beta
patch related problems. HP benefits by moving the patches to GR and MPE
sites benefit by testing with reasonable safety.

2. A Webwise patch based on the new Apache 2.2.x with all source, tools
& documentation to build, per SIB'04.

3. A SambaiX patch based on 3.0.x with all source, tools & documentation
to build, per SIB'04.

Subject: [HP3000-L] MPE Beta Testing

Hi all,

We in vCSY are trying to pull together another PowerPatch for 7.5 but
there are several patches lacking sufficient customer exposure to be
considered for inclusion in the PP. Only General Release (GR) patches
are included in our PowerPatch builds. I am trying to get all of the
recent SIB patches into this PP but I can't because several of them have
not had adequate (meaning at least more than ONE customer -- thanks
donna!) beta customer usage. So, for now, these SIB patches remain in BT
status, can be requested by customers, but are not currently in the PP:

MPEMXV9C - NW Printing. This patch was re-worked due to a bug where we
assumed all printers that support PCL also support PJL. Well, certain
printers, including the HP 405, support PCL but do not support PJL, and
this is addressed in this latest version of the NW Printing patch. It
remains in BT status since no one has requested this patch. See:
 http://jazz.external.hp.com/papers/Communicator/7.5/NWPrinting.html

MPEMXT3 - Large Disk family of patches. We have one beta tester as of
today. These patches allow MPE to access up to 512GB per spindle. See:
 http://jazz.external.hp.com/papers/Communicator/7.5/LargeDisk.txt

MPEMXV0A - CI Functions - devinfo, spoolinfo, volinfo. One or maybe 2
beta testers. It would be great to get one more site to request and use
these patches so they can move to GR status. See:

http://jazz.external.hp.com/papers/Communicator/7.5/CIInfoFunctions.html

Recent SIB patches which have a good chance of being included in the 7.5
PP are:

FTPHDG4 - FTP Phase I security. See:

http://jazz.external.hp.com/papers/Communicator/7.5/ftp_enhancements-1.h
tml

MPEMXW1A - CI User Functions. See:
 http://jazz.external.hp.com/papers/Communicator/7.5/UserFunctions.txt

All patches available for BT (and hoping to make it to GR) are visible
on Jazz at:
 http://jazz.external.hp.com/src/patches/

Regards,
 Jeff Vance, vCSY
