Funny thing about that.

The designers of MPE/iX did a "really" good job in solving that problem.

All spool files restored get a NEW spool file number.  Regardless of
what is on tape.

(Then it may be a good idea when restoring to get a list of the
results.)

The only problem I can foresee is that most sites have an upper limit of
say, #O99999 before the numbers wrap around.

If you should happen to restore 100,000 spool files in one sitting
without printing them off, who knows?

(Now I KNOW someone's with a test machine is going to try this, just
wait.)
