Ah, the memories come flooding back. When I worked at DTD (Data Terminal
Division) back in the early 80's they had developed a completely new smart
terminal called the HP2700 (The "Orion Project"). It was a massive color
graphics monitor . That I know of, only two were ever purchased if memory
serves me correctly, by some obscure director named Steven Spielberg for a
movie called STAR WARS.

Back in the early 80s when I worked for a short stint at the HP Customer
demo center in Rockville Md, we had a 2626 with a fun demo program that
actually painted a jukebox on the screen (in line drawing characters), and
allowed you to select a tune (using function keys). When you did so, it
animated the drop of a record, followed by the "spinning" of the record
within the jukebox as it played the tune selected. Someone had WAY too much
time on their hands I think!
Back in high school I wrote a cute animated "missile command" game and a
hangman game in Basic/3000, which apparently I've lost somewhere over the
years :-(
My favorite toy of the era though was the 2627a (color) terminals though.
Ours had a drawing tablet and a voice-synthesizer attached, and ran HPDraw
with printouts directed to our local 2680 laser (behemoth) printer. :-)
