Years ago I was an a small dinner with Grace Hopper.

OK, me and 1000 others at a hall in San Diego.

Grace was a character - picture a little old woman in a slightly dingy
Admiral's uniform.

She said that while at hotels some thought she was the bellhop.

She was a visionary - among the things she predicted were not bigger and
better computers but computers that ran in parallel processing. She said "if
you need to pull a heavy wagon you don't get bigger and bigger horses - you
get more horses".

She liked to "show" a nanosecond - a length of string about 1' long - the
time light travels that distance.

Grace, of course, invented COBOL at the Navy - to create a portable
language.

I have found that it isn't quite as succienct as "C".

As far as that translation, "nicht verstehen" ;-)

Bill
