Cannot bring up IP address

Using NMMGR I have configured an IP and gateway for the DR 918LX.  
I have validated and saved the configuration and rebooted.  I have 
performed the following commands:

NETCONTROL START;NET=LOOP
NETCONTROL START;NET=BROCKLEY
NSCONTROL START

However, I cannot ping the assigned IP address from the console of 
box itself.  Is there anything (obvious or not) that I am 
overlooking?
