I just enjoyed an interesting experience. A co-worker reported receiving a
"weird IM" from an acquaintance, resulting in an item on her desktop that she
could not delete. I remoted in, and checked the file's properties; the user
should have been able to delete it, but neither of us could. Among the reasons
given was that it could be in use. And there it was, as a process in Task
Manager. I killed the process tree, and "deleted" the file. I then googled the
filename, 317824.com, and came up empty. I've submitted the file to our
antivirus vendor. While my hands-on experiences with viruses have been few,
this is a first for me.
